NRA Pistol Instructor

Apex offers courses in not just basic instruction, but training to become an instructor. The NRA pistol Instructor Course trains students to teach the NRA Basics of pistol Shooting. This course differs slightly from most of our offerings in that it has two firm prerequisites: Prospective Instructors must have completed/possess a valid certificate for the NRA Basics of pistol Shooting (Student) course as well as the NRA Basic Instructor Training course, as well as receive the endorsement of their Instructor(s).

Instructor Candidates must meet the high bar for this course, including demonstration of a solid background in firearm safety and shooting skills from prior experience. Candidates must be deeply familiar with pistol shooting. Students in NRA Certified courses are there expecting deep knowledge and experience of the discipline.

The NRA Basic pistol Instructor Course will focus on all aspects of instruction, included officail NRA Policies and Procedures, public speaking, training methodology, use of a training team and training aids, course organization, budgeting, and lesson preparation. Candidates will receive lesson plans and basic course student packets and particpate in role play exercises to develop the essential skills to lead a class through a variety of situations.

Successful completion of this course is harder than our other course offerings. NRA Certified Instructors are held to a higher standard. Candidates will be evaluated throughout the entirety of the course to ensure skills in handling firearms, appropriate use of training materials, and correct instructional technique.

Students will receive certification to teach the NRA Basic pistol Shooting Course upon successful completion of this course.
